Two BSA accredited courses are available side-by-side. They are designed for individuals who work with [hearing impaired] adults and / or children, and require training in impression-taking, e.g. assistant/associate audiologists, ATOs, assistant hearing aid dispensers, teachers of the deaf, educational audiologists and acoustic technicians.
Delegates can undertake either one or both days of the training. In order to undertake impression-taking in paediatrics, delegates must have a certificate of competence in impression-taking (over 5 years).
The course includes both practical and theoretical components. Delegates are required to pass a practical assessment undertaken on the day and additional assessment as homework, in order to gain the certificate. Course fee £250 (1 day) or £400 (2 days).
Tracy James is a Clinical Scientist in Audiology, and has over 10 years training experience. She is a Professional Practice Committee member for the BSA was the lead author for the BSA recommended procedure (supplement) – taking an aural impression: children under 5 years.
